When we think of grey, a standard color may come to mind. However, your base grey color choice is worth thinking about. This is because there is no single grey color in which one size fits all.Instead, grey is influenced by a range of different undertones, from red to green to blue. Warm greys such as taupe or putty will make your kitchen appear warm and cozy, whereas a grey with a blue undertone will have an industrial feel.
For one thing, while it goes on smoothly, oil-based paint takes a long time to dry in between coats—up to 16 hours. Without good circulation (such as inside of a cabinet), waiting for the paint to dry can really become an issue. Keeping your cabinets emptied for days as you let the paint dry between coats can be a nuisance that many people are not willing to deal with. Latex paint, however, is ready for another coat in as little as two to four hours. This means you can easily paint in a day and put your kitchen back together pronto.
For the empty room with no finished floor, masking and covering is not needed.Paint drips on the sub floor will be covered up later by the floor covering. If using a paint sprayer,be sure to drape plastic over doors to adjacent rooms to prevent paint mist from migrating. For the finished room, apply masking tape to the trim before painting the walls. Lay a canvas drop cloth on the floor.Drape large objects such as cabinets, appliances, and tables with plastic sheeting or with masking film.
