Considering that not all the spaces should be vivid and bright, you have perfect options for formal cabinets.
Most cabinet doors still use a form of contoured design, in which frames and panels are constructed so that the cabinet faces are dimensional rather than flat. This raised panel design, such as is found in Shaker-style cabinets, gives a very traditional look. However, flat-panel doors, otherwise known as slab cabinet doors, are increasing in popularity, largely because they lend a modern look to any kitchen or bathroom.
Application Tips.Do you have flat cabinet doors, or do they feature inset panels and raised edges? If you have flat doors on your kitchen cabinets, you can make quick work of paint application by using a paint roller with ¼ nap (for the most even application and smooth finish). Paneled kitchen cabinets require a little more work—use a paint brush to evenly coat angled surfaces and inset areas. Remember to choose a synthetic bristle brush if you are using latex paint, since the water-based formula will swell the bristles of a natural paint brush.
One tip: decide how much change you want to make if you choose the color of white to put in your kitchen. If your flooring or counters are not changed, take account of existing colors. The floors of dark wood mingle well with almost every shade of white. Floors are so diverse that it is best to have multiple colors of paint chips and to lie them in different lights on the floor to see how the colors mix.
Elegant or casual can be the kitchen. Even with bright colors, this space could be hot and inviting. If you're looking for retro style, consider putting black and white tiles on the ground and putting red clothes and equipment on the countertops. The most important thing to keep in mind is that there are no strong, vacant areas in the kitchen. This space has a dynamic, beautiful feeling that is only emphasized by the beauty of white.
